SYNOPSIS
The book, prospectively titled "Greece, Gods & Games", will be an immaculately illustrated overview of the three modern day Olympic Games held in Greece, beginning with the re-establishment of the games in 1896 in Athens. It will chronicle the tenth anniversary games held in 1906, and focus on the first Olympic Games held in Greece after nearly a century, at Athens in 2004. Divided into three sections, the book will include the historical context of what was occurring in the world and Greece at the time, the architectural expansion, and the heroes and heroines of the three Olympic Games. The final chapter will be completed by a four-color supplement, which will be bound into ONE book that will contain the winners and competitors of the 2004 Olympic Games. Sample chapter titles may be:

  • Greece, the Genesis of the Games
  • 1896 Olympic Renaissance in Athens
  • Rebuilding the Athenaeum in Athens
  • Greek god still exists!
  • Greece on the verge of the Twentieth Century
  • 1906 the Only non-Olympiad Olympics
  • Greece in a new century

MZI Global will retain academic experts to write the historical and architectural elements of the book and to translate the text into 5 languages. MZI Global will also design, custom publish and print the volume, handling the entire project from concept to completion according to your guidelines.  The strategy is to complete the volume in 2003 and pre-sell these volumes to Olympic attendees who will reserve their copy prior to the games and take possession of them at the Olympics in Athens, or have them mailed to their home or office if they prefer.

SPONSORSHIP
With initial support from the Greek Government and the Onassis Foundation, MZI Global can arrange for sponsors who, in exchange for a listing in the book credits, will share in this investment opportunity. We have already garnered the interest of a major supplier of athletic clothing and equipment in this project.

The Greatness of Greece
The Olympics stand as a historic pillar of Greek history and culture. Celebrated for over one thousand years without interruption until the second century A.D., the Olympics began to be held again in the year 1896 in Athens. They were again held in Athens in the year 1906 to mark the 10th year anniversary of the rebirth of the games. It has been almost one hundred years since the Olympic Games. This provides the Greek nation with the perfect opportunity to not only commemorate these historic games, but also to connect the greatness of Greece’s history with a positive image of its contemporary and future prospects. A commemorative, hard cover, coffee table volume would be an excellent way for Greece to promote its magnificent history and to illustrate the business and tourism opportunities Greece has to offer to the world.

By weaving together the rich story of Greece and the Olympics along with current Greek trade and commerce opportunities, Greece stands both to make an immediate profit from the sale of this volume to the thousands upon thousands of Olympic visitors as well as the long term benefit of promoting the advantages of conducting trade and tourism in Greece. This book will serve both as a lucrative product and a powerful marketing tool.
